A disappointingly challenging overnight session for gold, with Chinese buyers ultimately getting squashed by sellers who seemingly wanted to stir anxiety over a new cycle high for Japanese 10yr bond yields. While much calmer Western bond markets and broad USD selling during the European AM, plus this morning’s much weaker-than-expected November ADP Employment report, then came to the rescue for gold, the trading algorithms are just now unjustly hitting the market with the S&P / Bitcoin selloff following this headline: “Microsoft lowers AI software sales quotas as customers resist newer products”. This is a moronically stupid reason to “sell everything” including safe-haven gold, and so it’s imperative now that the bulls wake up and defend the COMEX opening range as new support. The November ISM Services report comes out next at 10amET.
