Gold & Silver Afternoon Update 12/30/2025 | The Bregar Minute

Daily Update | Erik Bregar | 30 Dec, 2025

A very poor rest of the day for gold.  It got whacked back below the October high by algos at the S&P cash open, couldn’t benefit at all from silver’s +4% rally from 10amET into the COMEX close, and overreacted to the downside with a modest US yield uptick following a mixed set of FOMC Minutes.  Chinese buyers need to come the rescue yet again tonight (to regain the October high) or I fear the bulls could be in a little trouble here short-term.  Silver continues to outperform thanks to today’s China subsidy story, and the fact that it has now defended its 55hr MA as new support on two occasions bodes well for the bulls going into overnight trade.  Tonight’s calendar features December PMIs out of China and tomorrow brings the latest look at initial & continuing US jobless claims.
