Gold & Silver Afternoon Update 10/22/2025 | The Bregar Minute
A strong rest of the day for the precious metals, thanks in large part to US yields finally retreating with a falling stock market after the London close. Treasury Secretary Bessent’s announcement of “a substantial pickup in Russian sanctions either after the close this afternoon or first thing tomorrow” added some icing to the cake via palladium’s +5% surge during the 3pmET hour. With gold & silver now finishing NY trade well above their COMEX closing ranges, and with their daily charts set to record more neutral-looking spinning top candlestick patterns as a result, I think we could see an attempt from Chinese accounts to carry the precious metals higher again tonight. I have to imagine that whomever in Europe smacked the market last night has buy-stop orders placed above today’s European AM highs, and this could be fuel for the next leg higher into gold & silver’s 55hr moving averages if Chinese buyers push hard enough. Pay close attention to the newswires tonight as Bessent now has to deliver what he has promised.
